Six years ago, the Israeli Knesset established an official Veterans Day, November 29/18th of Kislev, honoring wounded soldiers and victims of terror. In recognition of יום ההוקרה, the Upper School welcomed a delegation of six IDF combat veterans wounded during various military operations. Members of the Upper School English department are offering a series of classes for parents and alumni focusing on the "greatest hits" of the Ramaz English curriculum from grades nine, ten, and eleven. This is your chance to experience what your child/ren is/are learning and bond with them over this shared experience. Each 90-minute session will be based on one text from the Ramaz curriculum, which attendees should read on their own in advance. $10 per session. US Election Day Assembly Featuring Mr. Adam Szubin '90, Former Acting Under Secretary For Terrorism and Financial Intelligence

The Ramaz Upper School marked Election Day with guest speaker and Ramaz alumnus Adam Szubin '90, who addressed students about his work with the US Treasury Department in their counter-terrorism operations and Iranian nuclear arms control. Mr. Deutsch, Dr. Jucovy, Gail H. and Elizabeth N.C. joined Mr. Szubin in a fascinating follow-up discussion about US-China relations, the value of economic sanctions, and the art of international negotiations. Mr. Szubin served as the Acting Under Secretary for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence and the Acting Secretary of the Treasury of the United States.

US Students Lobby At Capital Hill On Election Day With AIPAC!

US Environmental Club Partners With The Daffodil Project In Memory of 9/11 Victims

The Ramaz Environmental Club teamed up with The Daffodil Project, an organization that annually plants daffodil bulbs in memory of the tragedy of 9/11. Following 9/11, a Dutch friend of a board member of New Yorkers for Parks wanted to contribute something to New York in commemoration. His initial contribution was one million daffodil bulbs to be dispersed throughout New York City. Ever since then, The Daffodil Project formed and continues planting yellow daffodils (the color of remembrance) honoring the losses of 9/11...

Parents Join Sephardic Minyan for Last Selichot of the Year!

The Upper School Moshe and Ivette Dabah Sephardic Minyan hosted a parent and child prayer to mark the last day of Selichot prior to Yom Kippur. After a month of chanting the familiar tunes in their traditional custom, the students proudly led the service with confidence and excitement. Chazan Levy, cantor for the Safra Synagogue, surprised the students, and together with Rabbi Yosef Albo, Director of Sephardi Programming, had the privilege of hearing authentic renditions of the Selichot liturgy.
