Upper Schoolers Commemorate 9/11 with Jamie Lassner '82 and a Senior Day of Service
Ramaz News
The Upper School commemorated the 23rd anniversary of September 11, 2001, with a meaningful day of service and reflection. The day began with school-wide tefillah and an address from Jamie Lassner '82, a Hatzalah volunteer and first responder on 9/11. Mr. Lassner shared stories about his experience on the day and the physical and mental healing process he went through in the years after. He encouraged students to be the change they want to see in the world.
After those powerful words, the seniors traveled to the Lower East Side for a day of service. They heard from Hatzalah and local Jewish community leaders. They assembled Rosh Hashana packages for those in need and had lunch with senior citizens who were impacted by the attacks on 9/11. They ended the day with a walking tour of the Lower East Side neighborhood. The Seniors were grateful that they got to immediately put Mr. Lassner's words into action and "be the change" they wanted to see in the world.
