Sophomores Bond and Reflect with a Shabbaton Themed "Living Your Legacy"

Ramaz News

The Sophomore Shabbaton, themed "Living Your Legacy," was an incredibly successful and uplifting experience! The weekend started off with high-energy fun and group bonding at the indoor trampoline park Sky Zone. That evening, the group transitioned into a beautiful and spirited Kabbalat Shabbat, complete with incredible ruach and dancing, followed by a delicious dinner. They held a meaningful discussion session using the prompt: "What are you known for?" reflecting on their identities and the way that those identities are perceived by others. The spirit of reflection, and the emotional honesty of their conversation, carried over into the night's inspiring oneg full of singing and stories.

On Shabbat day, many of the boys showcased their initiative by leading prayer and reading Torah, and their dedication both energized their peers and impressed their teachers. Freshly invigorated from tefillah, students played a grade-wide game and continued their discussion sessions, this time focusing on personal growth and connecting to their individual legacies. Over the course of their conversations and activities, students gained a much greater understanding of themselves and each other. They put it to the test when they wrapped up the weekend on Motzaei Shabbat, using teamwork to face the of the "5 Wits" escape room! By the time they got home late Saturday night, everyone agreed that the combination of thrills and meaningful programming made the "Living Your Legacy" Shabbaton a huge hit.
