Students Celebrate Each Other at the Senior Dinner

Ramaz News

The seniors had a beautiful last hoorah at the Senior Dinner, where they came together as a class and celebrated the end of their Ramaz journeys. Wearing formal attire and joined by faculty and staff, they enjoyed good food while reminiscing on all they have accomplished. Highlights from the dinner included awards presented to seniors for outstanding character; a funny video skit, which was created by the senior elective class Ghetto Film School; and the presentation of the Mr. Abraham Pilchik Ramaz Faculty Mentorship Award, which is given annually to a faculty member on whom the students vote: this year, Rabbi Immanuel Hass.

Class-elected speaker Ezra S. shared a speech celebrating the last four years, summarizing them with comparisons to the stages of life. According to Ezra, in freshman year, everyone felt new as babies, starting out unsure and eventually learning how to find their way (not to mention, he added, how cute they were!). Sophomore year was like toddlerhood, as they felt more confident exploring, asking questions, and getting into (harmless) shenanigans. Junior year, they experienced the self-discovery, turbulence, and added responsibilities that come with being a teenager. Now, as seniors, they feel freedom and confidence to take on even more responsibility and maturity as adults, using the lessons they learned at Ramaz to approach their lives with greater resilience and wisdom.
