Ramaz News
Rabbi Saul Berman visited the Upper School on January 17 to speak with the freshmen, sophomores, and juniors about his experiences in Selma during the civil rights demonstrations of 1965. His message was that as Jews, we have an obligation to ensure the rights and well being of all of mankind and that this is a central theme in the Torah. The students were fascinated by Rabbi Berman's personal account of being arrested for civil disobedience in Alabama while ensuring voting and civil rights for Black Americans. Rabbi Berman is a leading Modern Orthodox scholar and teaches at the Law School at Columbia University and Stern College.
