Freshmen and Juniors Spend Days of Service Volunteering with Yad Leah and GrowTorah

After partnering with Yad Leah and Grow Torah throughout their Ramaz experiences, freshmen and juniors visited the organizations in person for hands-on volunteer work during their days of service. Students sorted and packed clothing at Yad Leah’s warehouse and juniors worked with Grow Torah to clean up the Teaneck Conservatory!

Half their day was spent with Yad Leah, which collects gently used clothing and ships tens of tons of donations to Israel each year. To ensure that families in need can receive these items with the utmost respect and privacy, Yad Leah distributes them by setting up authentic, shop-like storefronts. Ramaz has contributed countless donations over the years, and on their days of service, freshmen and juniors had the privilege of sorting and packing donations to help prepare them for shipment.

For the other half of the day, students partnered with GrowTorah, which teaches about environmental concerns and food sustainability through a Torah lens. They headed to the Teaneck Conservatory to participate in a park cleanup and learned firsthand about the vital importance of creating and preserving green spaces in residential areas.

Everyone loved getting an insider experience helping Israelis and the local East Coast community, all while reflecting on Torah and on the core Ramaz values of chesed and menschlichkeit.
