Freshman Class Launches the Shmirat Halashon Program for the Refuah Shleimah of a Classmate
Ramaz News
Ramaz is so proud of the freshman grade, who have decided to focus on learning the halachot of shmirat halashon (careful speech) as a zechut for a full refuah sheleimah for their classmate, Stanley Parker.
Director of Admissions and mother of Stanley, Ms. Joanna Parker '00, addressed the freshman grade after mincha about the strength of language. She reminded everyone that language—religiously, historically, communally, and, most importantly, interpersonally—is one of the most magical and important tools that human beings possess. Each student then received a copy of the Chofetz Chaim’s Daily Companion on the concepts and laws of proper speech. They will be reading one lesson a day for the rest of the year. Each Grade 9 family has also received one to keep at home so that parents can read the day’s lesson along with their children.
Thank you to the anonymous freshman family who donated the books for this initiative.
