Pictures Inside: Students Pack 300 New Boots for Chayalim

Sophomores hit the ground running in partnership with Boots for Israel to pack 300 new boots for the IDF. Yakir, an Amazon seller of Boots for Israel, spoke to students about how his life changed on October 11, 2023 at 2:30 AM, when he got a call asking Yakir to help him get 88 pairs of boots for the IDF. That’s where the journey began, and fast forward to today, Boots for Israel has delivered over 85,000 pairs of boots to our chayalim! Joseph K. '26 also spoke to the auditorium about his connection to Boots for Israel and his passion to bring it to Ramaz, emphasizing that “you never know when a chesed opportunity is going to come your way” and urging everyone to speak up and bring chesed ideas to their community. Students couldn’t wait to join the incredible initiative, and threw themselves to zipping, tying, and writing heartfelt messages to pack in each bag. They even presented a pair of boots to a visiting chayal, Gilad, who is on his way back to the front lines!

To make it even more special, seniors spontaneously joined the project. Fresh from a powerful assembly with annual visitor Micah Kaufman, who spoke about his recovery from being hit by a car and his dedication to incorporating kindness into each day of his life, the seniors felt inspired to join the chesed and help pack boots. Everyone loved teaming up, and they truly proved that when Ramaz students say they “stand with Israel,” they mean it literally.
