Students and Parents Receive a Special Visit from Chesed Leader Joseph Gitler

Just in time for Shabbat, the Ramaz community received an inspiring visit from Joseph Gitler, founder of the chesed organization Leket Israel. He visited all three buildings, speaking with the Parents Friday Morning Minyan, the Middle School Exploratory Tefillah service, and Upper School freshman prior to their Shabbaton, and discussed Leket Israel’s past and present. Leket Israel is Israel’s only food rescue and resource organization: through partnerships with over 300 nonprofit organizations, it supplies food and vital nutritional support to more than 415,000 people in Israel every week. The Exploratory Tefillah visit was extra special because Joseph is featured in the service’s siddur! Their siddur’s Ashrei Tefillah is complete with a picture of Joseph and a blurb about Leket Israel. In addition to hearing directly from Joseph about the organization, they had the special experience of singing the tefillah to him.
