The Middle School Holds its Thanksgiving Assembly and Presents the "Thanks-for-Giving" Award

Ramaz News

The Middle School held its annual Thanksgiving assembly, featuring moving speeches, heartfelt musical performances, and the presentation of two awards. Among the many highlights, attendees heard from seventh graders Susan B. and Daniella L., who reflected on their gratitude for their family, their food security, and the existence of the State of Israel, all of which they know no one should take for granted. After a stirring rendition of “Modeh Ani” by the 5th and 6th grade choir, seventh grader Ava G. introduced the Middle School’s “Thanks-for-Giving” Award, which it presents each year to a person or organization that helps support our community. She presented the award to the NYPD 19th Precinct’s Deputy Inspector Noreen Lazarus, who leads her officers to help keep Jewish New Yorkers safe and works closely with Ramaz security to protect our school. Deputy Inspector Lazarus was deeply honored and expressed her gratitude to the school for trusting her to keep us safe. The second award was presented to someone who strengthens Ramaz from within: Ms. Amy Untch, an incredible teacher who has enhanced the Middle School for years with both her wisdom and her kindness. Students had secretly participated in a video project, sending in recordings of themselves thanking her and telling stories of how she’s helped them. She was surprised and honored to receive such recognition, and everyone enjoyed the opportunity to express their gratitude.
