Public Speakers Discuss Student Lunch Ideas with MS Administration

Ramaz News

Ms. Kim Gantz-Wexler's Middle School Public Speaking classes held riveting debates. Classes chose fascinating topics from Artificial Intelligence to the death penalty. One class decided it wanted to present a topic that all students feel passionately about: School lunches! The class had many ideas for school lunch innovations and they invited Head of Middle School Ms. Jennifer Bernstein; Assistant Head of MS Rabbi Chaim Hagler; and Chief Operating Officer Mr. Larry Berman, who is in charge of lunches at Ramaz.  What a wonderful way for the students to exercise their persuasive speaking skills and make their voices heard!

Using all the tools they've learned throughout the year, the students presented thoughtful suggestions and included specific ways to implement these changes. Ms. Bernstein, Rabbi Hagler, and Mr. Berman listened carefully and took notes. Ms. Bernstein commented that she was impressed with the students' ability to speak loudly, slowly, clearly, respectfully, and with passion. Mr. Berman mentioned that he was impressed with how the students began by thanking the school for the changes it has already made before asking for additional adjustments. The session ended with the invited guests saying they would get back to the students before the end of the year.
