Middle School Teachers Perform a Comedic Shavuot Play

Ramaz News

To get into the spirit of Shavuot, Middle Schoolers were treated to a whimsical reenactment of Matan Torah. Their teachers presented a short play for the students, equipped with costumes, lighting and sound cues, and even a fog machine! Their script told the story while making students laugh, such as when the teachers pretended to be young children in the desert whining "Are we there yet?" The production even had 4D elements — when flowers bloomed on Har Sinai, not only did flowers appear onstage visually, but teachers in the audience sprayed Febreeze so students could enjoy the floral scent as well! After the fun production, students shared what aspects of the story they had known beforehand and what aspects they hadn't. Some students said they had known that Har Sinai was not the tallest, prettiest, or best mountain, while some shared that they hadn't known Bnei Yisrael overslept the morning of Matan Torah. In fact, they then learned an additional detail: Bnei Yisrael's oversleeping is the origin of Shavuot'minhag to stay up all night.
