Israeli Tour Guide and Former IDF Paratrooper Rami Reuveni Teaches 8th Graders About the Conflict

Israeli tour guide and former IDF paratrooper Mr. Rami Reuveni spoke to one of Ms. Tzipora Ross's eighth-grade history classes about the history behind the current war between Israel and Hamas. He addressed the issue of why so many people are misinformed about Israel, discussing how Israel disengaged from Gaza in 2005 in an effort to reach peace with the Palestinians.  Subsequently, the Gazans elected Hamas as their government, and Hamas used funds from the United States, the EU, and other nations to build terror tunnels and create rockets to launch into Israel.  He also discussed the earlier peace process attempts between Israel and the Palestinians in the West Bank, which Yasser Arafat rejected multiple times. Mr. Reuveni described his own military service as a reservist with the IDF, as well as his professional role as a tour guide, explaining Israeli history and current events to foreign tourists.
