Fourth and Eighth Graders Prepare to Invent Disability Aids with ADI Israel's STEM Challenge

Ramaz News

Fourth and eighth graders had the privilege of attending the kickoff of the ADI “Make the Change” STEM Challenge. Each year, Elie Klein from ADI Israel (ADI: Ability, Diversity, and Inclusion) starts off this sponsored STEM Challenge by providing Ramaz students with stories, photos, and videos about the residents who receive the incredible care ADI facilitates. ADI empowers and advances individuals living with, or touched by, disability. ADI is “Reimagining Rehabilitation, Advancing Ability for All.”

The STEM contest aligns with Ramaz’s Innovation Lab curriculum in fourth and eighth grades. Students will soon begin their “Design for Inclusion” Design Thinking Unit. They will research, brainstorm, prototype, and iterate designs to help those with different abilities than the students do. Through this unit of study, students build empathy for people with unique challenges, and find new and inventive ways to help these individuals complete everyday tasks. Stay tuned for updates on the final outcomes of these creative designers.
