Second Graders Collaborate on a Gradewide Upcycling Project

Ramaz News

As the school year winds down, Ramaz second graders have been diving into an exciting final project focused on upcycling. After learning about sustainability and how everyday items can be transformed into something new, these young designers eagerly jumped into the creative process to design original pieces using old t-shirts as their primary material. Throughout the year, students in the Innovation Lab tackled a variety of design challenges: working individually, in pairs, or in small groups. For this final project, however, the entire grade is collaborating to prepare the t-shirt materials by cutting and stretching them into colorful strips. From there, students are working in small teams to measure, cut, and design their own upcycled creations. From vibrant infinity scarves to playful dog chew toys, their hard work and collaboration have resulted in a collection of creative, one-of-a-kind treasures!
