Pictures Inside: First Graders Celebrate Community Workers

First graders celebrated the culmination of a months-long unit becoming experts in community workers, professionals who make sure everyone is safe and healthy. The students researched sanitation workers, firefighters, doctors, veterinarians, police officers, and dentists. With their newfound knowledge, they each wrote and illustrated books complete with glossaries of key terms, and collaborated to make posters depicting the professionals' place of work. They invited their parents to the celebration and taught everyone what they had learned! The children recited a poem expressing their appreciation for community workers and sat in booths around the room, where parents could ask them questions all about each job. The students are deeply grateful for community workers and even wrote compliment notes to thank them for helping everyone thrive!
