K-4 Meets Author, Illustrator, and Animator Dan Yaccarino

Ramaz News

Kindergarten and Lower Schoolers were thrilled to meet Dan Yaccarino, the creative mind behind many of their favorite books, games, and TV shows. The author, illustrator, and animator inspired everyone by emphasizing that, just as he became what he wanted to be when he grew up, the children can grow up to do what they love, too. He explained how his works go from doodles and drafts in his studio to shows like Oswald and The Backyardigans. He also read aloud and showed trailers of some of his books and TV shows, which had powerful and touching messages for the students. For example, he read aloud his book Unlovable, about bullying and self-confidence, and discussed his book Doug Unplugged and its spin-off TV series Doug Unplugs, about how much can be learned when someone steps away from the computer and engages with all their senses in the real world. The students were fascinated to hear from him and loved getting to ask him questions as well!

Thank you to Devora and Marc Allon for sponsoring this special author visit.
