Fourth Graders Team Up with 100s of Students to Perform Swing Music at Carnegie Hall
Ramaz News
Fourth graders from the Lower School and fifth graders from the Middle School attended an orchestra concert at Carnegie Hall! The concert was part of Carnegie Hall's "Link Up" program, a music education unit in which Ramaz students have been participating. The theme of the concert was "The Orchestra Swings," exploring the nuances of swing and its manifestations in orchestra and jazz. Students engaged in a participatory concert where they had the opportunity to sing, play recorder, and dance along in the audience. They even sang jazz classics such as "Duke's Place" and "It Don't Mean a Thing." Students learned about improvisation and had the opportunity to experience music improvisation with hundreds of students from the tri-state area.
