Fourth Graders and their Families Bring in the New Week with Havdallah Melave Malka
Ramaz News

Fourth graders, together with their teachers and parents, gathered for a very special havdallah "melave malka" program. The tables were decorated with havdallah sets that each student had created and designed for their families. Led by Rabbi Eisenberg, families sat together to learn about the themes and meaning behind havdallah and melave malka (the time when we figurately escort the Shabbat queen into a new week), exploring ideas that bridge Shabbat and their hopes for the week ahead.
Ms. Gafni opened the evening with words of welcome, followed by Rabbi Laniado, who shared insights into Sephardic havdallah customs. Rabbi Feldman brought out the guitar and, along with Rabbi Joshua Lookstein '88, led the group in singing and dancing. Of course, pizza was served. This spiritual and joyful event was a wonderful way for our students and families to begin a new week together.
