Second Graders Plan Personal Narratives from the Heart

Ramaz News

In writing, second graders have done a fantastic job generating ideas for their personal narratives. Each child created a "heart map," a page in the shape of a heart, which he or she filled with special memories about exciting trips, birthdays, and much more. After generating these ideas, students choose their writing topic by asking themselves, "Can I add a lot of details to this story? Did I experience a big feeling in this story?" Once they chose an idea, they organized their stories into a beginning, a middle, and end. The second graders were careful to plan out their story in sequential order and add exciting details. Everyone is off to a wonderful start, and they look forward to seeing their stories come to life over the next few weeks!
