Science, Art, and Torah: Pre-K Students Prepare for Tu B'Shevat with a Mitzvah Tree

Ramaz News

Pre-K students prepared for Tu B'Shevat (the birthday of the trees) by exploring the topic of trees. Everyone shared what they knew about trees, such as that trees grow fruit and that their leaves fall off during winter. Students discussed the different parts of trees, including the roots, trunks, branches, and leaves, and collaborated on an exciting group art project: painting a tree to decorate their classroom. This artwork is more than just a regular tree. Rather, it will be a "mitzvah tree." From now on, every time a student does a mitzvah, the class will add a sticker to the mitzvah tree trunk. The class spoke about how each person can do individual mitzvot and cooperative mitzvot. The tree will be a fun and effective way to encourage mitzvot of all kinds!
