Watch the Clip: Kindergarten Violinists Show Off Their Skill at Their End-of-Year Recital

Ramaz News

Kindergarten violinists performed their recital for their loved ones! Every week throughout the year, small groups of up to five children have met with Mr. Lamas, a career viola player and music educator, for 20-minute sessions using school-supplied violins. This special program provides important benefits, strengthening the students’ emotional and cognitive development, as learning instruments has been proven to improve children’s social skills, self-discipline, motor skills, memory, self-esteem, and joy. The students were so happy to share their hard work with their loved ones! They played violins alongside Mr. Lamas, holding their instruments with the correct form and demonstrating their understanding of pitch and rhythm. At one point, a song required them to wiggle their bodies in a funny dance while they played, which showed their comfort with the instruments and how much fun they were having!

Among the loved ones in the audience was Ms. Susan Sanders, a former Ramaz faculty member and a supporter of music education through her music foundation. Thank you to the Martin z"l and Susan Sanders Foundation for Classical Music Enrichment at Ramaz for supporting this program.
