ECC Students Review the Year's Hebrew by Playing Games with Bentzi

Ramaz News

ECC students are reviewing all the Hebrew they’ve learned this year, by participating in fun activities with their Hebrew-speaking puppet, Bentzi! For example, they played the “mystery food” game, where each student drew a surprise card that illustrated a food item and the students took turns saying, in Hebrew, whether they loved the food or not—correctly conjugating the verb “to love” into the masculine or feminine form! They also reviewed Hebrew color words and the words “lemala” (up) and “lemata” (down) by playing with a big rainbow parachute. Other ECC students played a game using a dollhouse and dice: they rolled dice that illustrated family members (such as “ima,” “mother”), relational words (like “l’yad,” “next to”) and locations in a house (like “shulchan,” “table”), forming a full Hebrew sentence from these rolls and placing the corresponding dolls in the corresponding places. What engaging ways to commit their Hebrew skills to memory!
