ECC Students Reflect on Isolation and Community Using the Parsha and the Garden
Ramaz News

Students joined Farmer Sara Dina from GrowTorah in the garden to learn about Parshat Tazria/Metzora. They discussed how someone with tzaraat (skin disease) would have to remove themself from the camp for seven days so that the kohen could discern any change in their condition. Students used this tactic by going on a garden walk to see that, after taking a break from the garden for Pesach, there were so many new things to see! They also added lettuce, kale, and swiss chard seedlings to the garden, with a focus on "companion planting"—placing certain plants near each other that provide mutual benefits, like pest control or protection from sun—to reflect on the important message that who we surround ourselves with matters.
