ECC Celebrates Sukkot with the Parrot Rebbe, Arts and Crafts, Dancing, and More!

Ramaz News

The ECC celebrated Sukkot with two days full of exciting programming on Chol Hamoed, kicking off with a visit from the Parrot Rebbe. The Parrot Rebbe introduced students to all of his different colorful birds. One of his birds could even talk! The parrots flew around the room and landed on some teachers' heads. Then, students were able to pet and hold the birds themselves. Thank you so much to Barrie and Eliot Peyser for sponsoring the Parrot Rebbe program.

Students then joined Rabbi Feldman from KJ in the Chapel, where he showed students a real Sefer Torah. He talked to students about the upcoming holiday of Simchat Torah where we celebrate the completion of reading the Torah. Each child had the chance to approach the Torah and hold the Yad to point to it. It was a beautiful and meaningful experience for all.

ECC students also went across the street to the Middle School to be paired up with a student for an arts and crafts activity. Each student and their Middle School buddy worked together on decorating a flag for Simchat Torah. After they finished, they danced and paraded around the Sukkah, showing off their flags.

Students also had the opportunity to make their own mini edible Sukkot! ! Using graham crackers, frosting, and sour sticks, they made the three walls, a roof with space to see the stars, and scach. After creating our structures, they enjoyed taking them apart and eating them! Delicious!
