Eve Goldberg spoke from the heart to the entire sophomore grade about the risks of substance use. Eve's son Isaac passed away three years ago at the age of 23, due to an accidental overdose. She described Isaac, his struggle with addiction, and his attempts at recovery. Eve's message was very meaningful and focused on the importance of learning to enjoy life without substances, and on helping friends who may be struggling. She also discussed how teens need to be careful to not pressure each other into drinking or experimenting with substances. Finally, Eve acknowledged that there are no simple formulas to prevent risky behavior, but emphasized that substance abuse can happen to anyone and that speaking to an adult whom one trusts is a meaningful preventive step.
