Fourth and fifth graders took part in a wonderful program by the Carnegie Hall Weill Music Institute called Link Up. They joined close to 2,000 other students from around the tri-state area in a highly participatory concert, in which they sang with and enjoyed listening to The Orchestra of St. Lutes with different soloists, in one of the most famous concert halls in the world.
The students spent a few months leaning about each musical selection from the concert, about the orchestra, and about Carnegie Hall, and this week sang with the orchestra, while learning many new exciting aspects of music. Some of the selections included the opening to Beethoven's Fifth Symphony, Barcarolle from Tales of Hofman, Toreador from the Opera Carmen, and Cidade Maravilhosa, a summer no in Portuguese about Rio De Janeiro.
