News From Ramaz
Over the past few months, the third grade classrooms have been transformed into close-knit writing communities where we have immersed ourselves in reading and writing poetry. The students have learned many different poetic devices such as similes, metaphors, alliteration, repetition, onomatopoeia, and personification. We have read a multitude of poems from revered poets, such as Langston Hughes, Kristine O'Connell George, Mary O'Neill, and Valerie Worth. It was amazing to see the students evolve into young poets, take risks as writers, and explore the beauty of observing their surroundings! Our unit culminated with a beautiful celebration in which each student shared an original poem and one of their favorite poems written by a published poet.
