News From Ramaz
This week, the children are busy baking their own matzah with Rabbi Fried from the Chabad Matzah Factory. They saw how wheat berries are ground into flour, then how the flour is mixed with water to make dough. All of the children were given a chance to help grind the flour and then each child rolled out their own matzah. They also learned that no more than 18 minutes may pass from the time the flour and water are combined until the matzah is baked. If it does, it is considered chametz and cannot be used for Pesach. In the classroom students practiced doing activities with the number 18. Can we finish cleaning up in 18 seconds – no, can we finish a puzzle in 18 minutes, maybe? After baking the matza (in 18 minutes) each child took home their own matzah.
