In this weeks Parasha, Parashat תזריע, we learn about many different things. In the beginning, we learn about what a mother has to do after giving birth. We learn which Korbanot she has to bring, and what procedures she has to go through depending on if she gave birth to a boy or girl. Then we start learning the laws of צרעת (Leprosy). We learn that the Kohen has to check it and what it has to look like to officially be צרעת. Then we also learn what to do with clothing that has צרעת.

In the part where it talks about the Kohen inspecting the צרעת it, says: "וביום הראות בו בשר חי יטמא; but on the day that live flesh appears in it (in the צרעת wound), he shall become unclean." In this phrase, the word, וביום ("on the day"), seems unnecessary. It could just have said when live flesh appears on it.... Rashi also picks up on this. He explains that the word וביום teaches us that there are certain days that צרעת have to be checked, and certain days that they can be ignored. For instance, during the 7 days of feasting, a groom shouldn't go check if he has צרעת. Also, a person shouldn't go check for צרעת on a chag. We can learn from this that during happy times, we should make an extra effort to just focus on the positives things. Then afterwards we can deal with the negative ones.
