Tu B'Shevat celebrates the "birthday of the trees" and all of the amazing miracles that take place each day with the thriving agriculture of Medinat Yisrael, the land of Israel. Second and third grade teachers have planned two amazing programs to help students learn the importance of the day and its meaning for the Jewish people. Each third grade classroom will have a sensory exploration of the Shevah Minim, the 7 species that are unique to Israel. Students will learn about each species' bracha, taste, texture, and fragrance.
Second grade teachers have been collaborating on the upcoming Tu B'Shevat Carnival where students will experience six interactive stations where they will explore the Shevah Minim, planting, and their senses - as they experience and internalize the day's greater significance.
Students will surely have a ball of fun as their teachers pull out all the stops for this one!
