News From Ramaz
Twelve Ramaz alumni returned to the Upper School for the Annual Ramaz Alumni-Senior Career Showcase. Each alumnus/a was there to represent a different professional industry and to guide and inspire seniors as they begin to figure out their career interests and goals. Students attended two sessions with the alumni/industry of their choice and then the entire grade convened in the auditorium for a panel discussion with all of the alumni representatives.
In the individual sessions, professionals shared their educational and professional journeys, glimpses into their everyday lives at their places of work, and offered advice on how to go about looking for internships and build a career path. For the Alumni Association, this is an opportunity to illustrate to the students that their connection to Ramaz goes beyond their time as students and to introduce them to the alumni professional network – over 5,500 members strong!
During the Career Development Panel, moderated by Claudia Oshry '12 (famed social media influencer known by her handle @GirlWithNoJob), alumni answered more broad questions to help our students develop a professional mind. Some of the questions tackled religious, personal, and family dilemmas they may have encountered and how to face them, who their mentors are, how a Ramaz education has proven most valuable to them over the years since graduation, and how their career paths have shifted over the years.
Finally, students had the opportunity to interact more closely with the alumni, sharing an executive-style lunch with professionals at round tables dedicated to each industry. Students were so excited to have the opportunity to ask questions and connect with the alumni professionals in a closer setting.
