News From Ramaz
Upper School students have been analyzing data from CERN, the European Center for Nuclear Research, as part of a high-energy physics experiment. Students have been looking for so-called "di-muon" events, in which particles called di-muons are produced in proton-proton collisions. The experiment is designed to study and support the Standard Model, which is a theory that tells us what particles the world is made of on the sub-atomic level. Ramaz is one of the few dozen schools around the world participating in this data analysis.
