News From Ramaz
Quinta. 5, an Israeli mixed A cappella group consisting of five singers performed for the Junior grade this week. The group has achieved great recognition both in Israel and around the world, and today they are at the forefront of the contemporary A cappella scene in Israel.
This past summer, Quinta 5 visited the Shalva National Center in Jerusalem and sang together with the lead singers of the Shalva Band, a most inspiring experience. The Shalva National Center services thousands of children with disabilities, free of charge, on a weekly basis providing therapy, education, and recreation, respite and advocacy initiatives. The center was founded 27 years ago by Mr. Kalman Samuels.
After the performances and a short film about Shalva, Mr. Samuels spoke to juniors about the essence of the center and the miracles performed there daily. His inspirational message made a huge impact, and he blessed our students with the determination to pursue their dreams, and overcome any obstacles, with energy and determination -- rejecting the claim that something is ever impossible.
The songs Quinta.5 sang expressed our shared goal to work toward a better tomorrow. The Ramaz choir, under the talented leadership of Mr. Daniel Henkin, joined Quinta.5 for a song the two groups prepared together, and this spirited musical union was a most memorable one!
Twenty Ramaz students, juniors and seniors, have signed on to run as Team Ramaz for Team Shalva in this year's Jerusalem. WATCH the video the juniors viewed this week which tells the story of Shalva -- it is an emotionally riveting experience.
