2019-2020 OVERVIEW

Fall Semester

July 14 ACT exam. This exam is not administered in the State of New York.
July 26 Registration deadline for the August SAT. (Late registration deadline with late fee is August 6.)
August 16 Registration deadline for the September ACT exam. (Late registration deadline with late fee is August 30.)
September 6 Registration deadline for the October SAT exams. (Late registration deadline with late fee is September 17.)

First week of classes Seniors considering early action/decision must have scheduled a family appointment with their college adviser by the end of the first week of classes.
Second week of classes All seniors should have scheduled a family appointment with their college adviser by the end of the second week of classes.
September 15 ACT exam (not at Ramaz).
September 20 Registration deadline for the October ACT exam.
September 25
  • Early decision/action candidates and students applying for priority consideration at public schools must have submitted the Early College List form to advisers and requested recommendations from teachers.
  • Early applicants should be writing essays and completing applications.
October TBD Financial Aid evening for parents of Ramaz Upper School students. 7:00 PM
October 1 Parents of early decision/action candidates should begin completing financial aid forms if applicable.
October 3 Registration deadline for the November SAT exams.
October 6 SAT and Subject Test exams.
October 27 ACT exam.
October 30 PSAT administered at Ramaz to all members of the junior class.
October 31 Regular decision College List form is due to the college advisers.
Early November Parents should be completing financial aid forms, including the FAFSA, the CSS Profile form, and any individual institutional forms.
November 1 All regular decision seniors should be approaching teachers requesting recommendations, working on applications, and working on rough drafts of essays.
November 3 SAT I and SAT II exams.
November 8 Registration deadline for the December SAT exams.
November 8 Registration deadline for the December ACT exam.
November 18 Israel Night Fair for Seniors and Parents. 5:00 PM
November 20 Fall College Night for juniors and their parents. 7:00 PM
December 1 Students should be showing regular decision application essays to their adviser for input.
December 8 SAT I and SAT II exams.
December 15 ACT exam.
Mid December Students should be putting final touches on essays and applications.
Mid December
PSAT results available online from the College Board.

Spring Semester

January 10 Registration deadline for the February ACT exam.
February 9 ACT exam.
Feb 10 College visitation day for juniors.
February 14 Registration deadline for the March SAT exam. There are no SAT Subject Tests given during this administration.
February–May Group and individual meetings between juniors and advisers take place. Students and parents should be reviewing together the substance of both group and individual meetings. More info...
Feb 28 Registration deadline for the April ACT exam.
March 14 SAT exam. There are no Subject Tests on this date.
Early April Students and parents should plan together what colleges they would like to see on College Night, taking into consideration the adviser's recommendations. Students should also be researching their college choices, making use of the College Office library and consulting with older students. Students also approach faculty members to ask them to submit "in-house" recommendations to the college advisers.
April 3 Registration deadline for the May SAT exams.
April 5 ACT exam.
Pesach Chol HaMoed Pesach makes an opportune time for one or more campus visits.
April 27 Spring College Night for juniors and their parents: over forty colleges send representatives to make presentations. 7:15 PM
May 1 Candidates' Common Reply Date. Students must enroll in the college of their choice by this date.
May 3 SAT I and SAT II exams.
May 8 Registration deadline for the June ACT exam.
May 8 Registration deadline for the June SAT exam.
May 11 Israel Information Night for parents of juniors. 6:30 PM, after Fugue Night.
June 7 SAT I and SAT II exams.
June 14 ACT exam (not at Ramaz).
June 16 Upper School Graduation.
July 19 ACT exam. This exam is not administered in the State of New York.

Summer

  • Rising seniors should preview college applications online and continue researching colleges; students should create user accounts for the Common Application at www.commonapp.org.
  • Campus visits may be made during the summer or planned for the fall.
  • Start thinking about and drafting the personal essay.
