The Persian Culture Club hosted guest speaker, Ms. Tali Farhadian Weinstein, who emigrated from Iran during the Iranian Revolution in 1979 and is currently running for Manhattan District Attorney in the upcoming elections. Weinstein is a prosecutor, a professor, and a proven criminal justice reformer. She also served as a clerk at the U.S. Supreme Court for Justice Sandra Day O'Connor and worked at the U.S. Department of Justice, first as Counsel to Attorney General Eric Holder, and then as a federal prosecutor....

Business Investment Club students heard from Mr. David Dwek, Managing Director at Morgan Stanley, who spoke about how investment banking works and the requirements needed to become an investment banker. Mr. Dwek explained that investment bankers help companies find each other and that investment bankers help run the financial activities of their clients. Students learned that having great internships are crucial to break into the field...

Upper School Pre-Med club members heard from their schoolmates Eric K. '22 and Liora K. '21 during their latest meetings. Eric presented on stem cells, specifically how experiments in labs have shown that they could be used to combat osteoarthritis, the degradation of cartilage in joints. This past summer, Eric interned at the Feinstein Institute and worked under Dr. Brandi, where he conducted research. Liora presented with Mr. Kavian on research about cell cycles and cancer...

Music Production and Songwriting Club (MP&S) is a new club that inspires students to pursue any genre of music that interests them. Mr. Oded Levari and Ron A. '22 founded this club following their participation in Ramaz's summer mentorship program, which Ron feels gave him a greater understanding for songwriting and creating music. As a continuation of the mentorship program, Mr. Levari and Ron decided to make MP&S an official Ramaz club to give other students an opportunity to compose whatever type of music they enjoy...

Growing up in a home of borscht and babushkas, I realized that many at school don't share the same cultural influences. But, once I found my Russian community in Ramaz, I realized that I could bring my home to school and make my school a home. This year Ariella G. and I founded the Russian Culture Club as a place of representation, learning, creativity, culture, community, and a home for students with an FSU (Former Soviet Union) background. We encourage students with and without a Russian background to join to learn more about our culture. From learning about history and literature to listening to music and creating our very own recipe book, we really will be doing it all....

Students in the Upper School Leadership in STEM Club heard from guest speaker, Marilyn Piccolo, last week. Piccolo is the Chief Information Security Officer at Assurant, a Fortune 300 company. Piccolo told students about her field, her role, and the unfortunate lack of women in this field...
