Who must hear the Megillah? EVERYONE! Diversity at its Best! 21 years ago, a student initiated what is now a longstanding tradition at Ramaz, reading Megillat Esther on Purim night at Lenox Hill/LIJ Hospital for patients, doctors and nurses who are on-call, and visiting families. We never know exactly how many patients will ask for a "private" reading, and freshman Jordan M., sophomore Jeremy B., juniors Avery S. and Zachary B. and alumni Aaron Kohl'13 and Simon Shohet '12 were well prepared. We read for Satmar Chasidim, a Russian immigrant, to two people who were admitted to the Emergency Room, and immediately requested a reading, and to a patient in the ICU for whom Simon had to don a mask and gown which didn't deter him, all in a night's mitzvah work! ...
