What started as dark and stormy skies, which threatened to cancel the race, ended in beautiful weather and great performances by the Ramaz cross country team. In the hours leading up to the race, emails went back and forth about whether the race would still go on. Even once the decision was made that it would, a few schools decided not to chance it. Of those who did, many, including our own Rams, had a smaller group of runners. Ramaz was represented by four runners; Sam K., Eric K., Daniel K., and Rebecca K....

The Girls Soccer team had a great time watching their coach Sarah Berger play soccer for Yeshiva University this past week! The girls appreciated watching her on the field and had a blast cheering her on. The Boys Hockey team had a great start to the season winning their first game against MDS, 14-3! The team played great defense overall and were led by George M. and Adrian R. from the start. Nathan P. and Gabe P. held a shutout for two periods and the offense was paced by Jack L., Alex O., Jack S., Liam G., and Ari G., as they all scored multiple goals! Congratulations as well to to our Girls Basketball team on winning their season opener, 42-25, over SAR! Special shout out to Rae K. for leading the way on offense and Grace C. for her outstanding defense! GO RAMS!

In late July, five Ramaz Middle School students combined with five at-large players to compete as part of the J-Team delegation in the 2019 JCC Maccabi Games. It was a grueling competition, with each team playing two games a day over four days. Seventh graders enjoyed their trip to Allamuchy State Park where they enjoyed nature, hiking, and rock climbing. Some students even overcame their fear of heights and insects as they pushed themselves out of their comfort zone. They learned how to support each other as they guided their peers up the wall and even belayed each other. On the bus, the students sang the new Ramaz alma mater and showed great spirit. Seventh grade girls and boys teams traveled to the Westchester Day School to compete in our first-ever flag football games! It was an enjoyable morning for all the students followed by a nice lunch where Ari G. led the benching prayers. GO RAMS!

Congratulations to the Ramaz Ultimate Frisbee team. They defeated league powerhouse East Side Middle School 8-7 on universe point. With the score tied 7-7 and the game on the line, the team showed tremendous poise as they worked the disc up the field and into the endzone. Go Rams!

The 6th grade girls basketball team won a thriller 35-33 in OT against Yavneh. Olivia F. hit a 3-point shot at the buzzer in regulation to force overtime. Leila S. contributed with great shooting. Grace K. and Lindsey F. made key defensive plays in overtime to seal the victory.

Congratulations to all the Ramaz Ultimate Frisbee Players who made the New York JCC Maccabi Ultimate Team. This summer they will travel to Atlanta to compete against teams from around the world in the 2019 JCC Maccabi games.

Good luck to students, faculty, and alumni who are participating in Friday's Jerusalem Winners Marathon and races. The marathon's route passes by Jerusalem landmarks including the Knesset, the Old City, Mount Zion, and Armon HaNatziv promenade. Many are running to support Shalva as part of Team Daniella in memory of Daniella Moffson z'l '12.
