As a culmination to the study of Zionism in Jewish History class, the 8th grade held a mock World Zionist Congress. In small groups of five or six, students researched primary-source writings from such illustrious thinkers as Rav Avraham Yitzchak HaKohen Kook, Ahad Ha'am, Theodor Herzl, and A.D. Gordon. After preparing cogent arguments, they debated which Zionism proved to be the most authentic, respectfully asking their fellow "delegates" how they would solve various problems with the future State of Israel. In addition to formulating arguments, the students honed their research and public speaking skills.
