Faculty & Staff

Leading by Example.

From nursery through twelfth grade, the passion, guidance, support, and skill of our administration and faculty are at the heart of Ramaz.

Our teachers have a wide range of personalities, backgrounds, and worldviews. Their foremost mission is teaching students the skills and knowledge necessary for life. At the same time, all knowledge is imparted in the context of strong religious and humanitarian values. Debate and discussion thrive. Teachers encourage intellectual curiosity, interdisciplinary thought, and academic integrity.

Almost all faculty participate in co-curricular programs, affording them the opportunity to teach equally valuable lessons in an informal, personal setting. Most Ramaz faculty members have, or are in the process of receiving, advanced degrees.

Growing up Rabbi Sommer didn't think he was "rabbi material," as he didn't enjoy learning...

The US Faculty held a full day of faculty-led classes where teachers sat in on classes taught by their colleagues. The focus of these classes were on interdisciplinary issues and pedagogical tools that are relevant across disciplines. The professional development day builds on the already existing cross-discipline dialogue that takes the form of spirited references by students in one class to material that comes up in other classes, to discussions between teachers...
