UPPER SCHOOL JUDAIC STUDIES TEACHER
The Ramaz Upper School is looking for a Judaic Studies teacher to teach Tanakh full time (Possibility for some Jewish philosophy as well). The candidate will be a teacher with a strong knowledge of Torah and pedagogical skills who is passionate about inspiring high school students towards a deeper connection with Torah and Judaism.
Beginner teachers are offered support and mentoring. We are interested in new teachers as well as experienced teachers and can offer growth opportunities for educators who are looking to advance their careers.
Full-time members of the Judaic Studies department are expected to attend daily tefilah (3-4 times per week) and to serve as religious role models for the students. Teachers should attend one of the Shabbatonim and should participate in the informal, religiously focused programming.

Overview:

Key Responsibilities:
- IESP Meetings: Facilitate and coordinate IESP meetings, collaborating with students, faculty, families, and support staff.
- Student Records: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records for all Learning Center students, including academic performance and accommodations.
- ILP Development: Assist in writing and implementing Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) tailored to students' needs.
- Compliance: Stay informed about DOE guidelines and best practices to ensure adherence to relevant regulations.
- Manage all accommodation requests for standardized testing and communicate appropriately with the college board.
- Coordinate and manage the AP program including student registration, proctoring, accommodations and setup/structure of the AP test taking.
- Extra Support: Help with proctoring, scribing, and serve as extra support in the LC
- Teach one class in the Upper School as part of role.
Qualifications:
- Education: Master’s degree in Learning Disabilities, Special Education, Psychology, or a related field
- (preferred).
- Experience: Extensive experience working with DOE procedures and supporting students with learning
- disabilities.
- Skills: Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to advocate for students and manage multiple responsibilities effectively.

1. Faculty Leadership & Supervision
Thought Partner: Serve as the primary thought partner and supervisor for Department Chairs, moving beyond "logistics" to facilitate deep conversations about vertical alignment, innovative assessment, and interdisciplinary opportunities.
Faculty/Admin Liaison and supervisor of Learning Center
Professional Growth: Conduct formal teacher and chair observations with GS departments and write-ups; supervise and mentor a Grade Dean through regular check-ins. Use these touchpoints to align classroom instruction with long-term educational goals, providing feedback that fosters a culture of reflective practice.
Prepare all of the observation forms for chairs and administrators and review completed forms
Liaison: Act as the primary point of contact for Department Chairs for both logistics, supervisory consultations and curricular conversations; collect semester grading sheets and teacher evaluations.
Administrative Thought Partnership: Acting as a strategic partner on the administration team in all aspects of school culture and life. Attending events and shabbatonim, serving as student advisor as part of the administrative team.
Teaching Responsibilities: One course of classroom teaching.
Oversees Grade Dean.
2. Academic Operations
Academic Monitoring:Track students with "F" grades or Incompletes, helping them create and execute makeup plans.
Compiling all summer assignments into one site for students to access all of their summer work.
Schedule Coordination: Partner with leadership to build and refine teacher and student schedules, including the complexities of elective "mini-courses" and senior programming.
Elective program: Working with the scheduling team to introduce electives to rising juniors and seniors, having students apply, compiling the data and reviewing with department chairs and administrators before informing students of their placement.
Calendar Management: Own the Test, Flex, and Special Schedules; manage the "Week at a Glance" to ensure all events, locations, and setups are synced.
Testing Oversight: Manage proctoring assignments with an eye for equity; coordinate makeup exams for students on trips or involved in school productions.
Work with the faculty member assigned to midterms and finals to prepare for and execute both exam periods.
Room & Resource Logistics: Assign rooms for flex periods, advisories, and clinics; ensure the library and after-school clinics are fully staffed and scheduled.
Partnership with the business office, assisting with select annual grant applications
3. Communication & Administration
Reporting: Write and distribute quarterly instructions for grades and anecdotals; review a portion of all report cards for quality assurance. Draft parent communications and coordinate with administrative staff for school-wide distribution.
Planning: Lead the planning for Simulated School Night, Parent-Teacher Conferences (PTC), and Student-Teacher Conferences (STC), Lead orientation for new faculty (Schoology, calendars, etc.).
Attend and participate in all relevant meetings: Department chair, US Admin team, Grade dean, Scheduling, Senior Team, GS Department meetings, etc.
Qualifications: Masters Level Degree in Education or related field.
Salary Range: $150,000-$175,000, Commensurate with experience

The Ramaz Upper School seeks to hire a full-time STUDENT ACTIVITIES DIRECTOR to begin Summer 2026.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Reporting to the Principal of the Upper School and under the direction of the Administration, plan, direct and review the activities and operations of student activities, student government and student organizations.
- Develop school-wide programs supporting the cultural, educational, religious, spiritual and social and emotional needs of students, which encourage student and community participation.
- Work in coordination with the administration to develop the school’s activity calendar.
- Be a part of the Grade Dean team to assist with school culture, grade culture and coordinate activities.
- Plan, execute and oversee a wide range of programs including, assemblies, trips, Shabbatonim, Orientation, Retreat, Color War, tzedakah, and chesed projects. This would include community oriented educational programs for specific calendar days and memorial events. This also includes coordinating speakers when appropriate.
- Create a celebratory environment and coordinate programming in the school for all Jewish holidays and spirit days.
- Create an exciting “vibe” in the school both in person (halls, lobby, music) and virtually (social media); inspiring warmth, ruach, and joyful Judaism.
- Work with Institutional Advancement on the Gyenes Tournament, annual dinner and other development initiatives. Work with Athletic and Arts Departments on special events.
- Arrange and be responsible for smooth use of equipment, facilities, and agendas for such activities.
- Special focus on framing and executing a robust chesed program and facilitating opportunities for community service engagement.
- Manage student activities budget with Upper School Administration and in conjunction with the Business Office.
- Share trip calendar for the school year with the Business Office and partner with them to develop budget and determine financial aid and insurance needs.
- Supervise one employee and lead him/her in achieving the goals of the department.
- Perform other student related projects and duties as assigned.

The Ramaz School seeks an experienced, dynamic, and passionate part-time Upper School Spanish teacher. The ideal candidate will have at least three years of teaching experience in High School.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Spanish or Language Education is required. Spanish Master’s degree preferred.
- Native or near-native fluency in Spanish as well as fluency in English, are expected.
