Please search our college advisement site for answers to frequently asked questions and for other related information. You may also log on to www.collegeboard.com for specific dates related to SAT I and II registration and testing deadlines, and log onto www.actstudent.org for ACT registration and testing deadlines.

Registration deadline for the September administration of the ACT exam.

September 9

Registration deadline for the October administration of the SAT exams.

September 11

ACT administration.
First week of classes

Seniors considering early action/decision must have scheduled a family appointment with their college adviser by the last day of the first week of classes.

Second week of classes

All seniors should have scheduled a family appointment with their college adviser by the end of the second week of classes.

September 16
Registration deadline for the October administration of the ACT exam.

September 27 Early decision/action candidates and students applying for priority consideration at public schools should have submitted the Early College List form and Secondary School Reports to advisers and requested recommendations from teachers.

Parents of early decision/action candidates should begin completing financial aid forms if applicable.

Early applicants should begin writing essays and completing applications.
October 2

SAT I and SAT II administration.

October 7

Registration deadline for the November administration of the SAT exams.

October 23

ACT administration.

October 26 PSAT administered at Ramaz to all members of the junior class.
October 26 College Night for parents of juniors. 7:00 PM
October 21

Financial Aid evening for parents of Ramaz juniors and seniors. 7:00 PM
November 1

All regular decision seniors should be approaching teachers requesting recommendations, starting work on applications and beginning rough drafts of essays.

November 1

All paperwork requiring adviser input must be submitted to the College Office. This includes: College List form; Secondary School Reports for all schools a student is considering applying to (or written requests for transcripts for schools with no Secondary School Reports); completed SUNY, CUNY, and other public school applications with the appropriate fees, if applying on paper.
November 4
Registration deadline for the December administration of the ACT exam.
November 6

SAT I and SAT II administration.

November 8

Registration deadline for the December administration of the SAT exams.

December 1

Students should be showing regular decision application essays to their adviser for input.

Early December

Parents should begin completing financial aid forms, including the FAFSA, the CSS Profile form, and any individual institutional forms.

December 4

SAT I and SAT II administration.

December 10

Students should be putting final touches on essays and applications.

December 11

ACT administration.

Mid December

College advisers return PSATs to juniors.

Juniors meet with seniors to discuss various SAT-prep options.

December 30

Registration deadline for the January administration of the SAT exams. This is the final testing opportunity for Ramaz seniors.

January 29

SAT I and II administration, usually during the weekend in the middle of Ramaz final exams.

February 10

Registration deadline for the March administration of the SAT I exam. There are no SAT II exams given during this administration.

February - May

Group and individual meetings between juniors and advisers take place; see Introduction to College Advising for a full description of these meetings.

Students and parents should be reviewing together the substance of both group and individual meetings.

March 9
Registration deadline for the April administration of the ACT exam.

March 11

SAT I administration. There are no SAT II exams administered on this date.

Early

April

Students and parents should plan together what colleges they would like to see on College Night, taking into consideration the adviser's recommendations. Students should also be researching their college choices, making use of the College Office library and consulting with older students. Students also approach faculty members to ask them to submit "in-house" recommendations to the college advisers.

April 6

Registration deadline for the May administration of the SAT exams.

Pesach

Chol HaMoed Pesach makes an opportune time for one or more campus visits.

April 15

ACT administration.

April 23 College visitation day for juniors.
Apr 30

College Night for juniors and their parents--over forty colleges send representatives to make presentations. 7:15 PM

May 1

Candidates' Common Reply Date. Students must enroll in the college of their choice by this date.

May 4

Registration deadline for the June administration of the ACT exam.

May 6

SAT I and SAT II administration.

May 8

Registration deadline for the June administration of the SAT exams.
June 3

SAT I and SAT II administration.

June 10

ACT administration.

Summer

Students should preview college applications online and continue researching colleges; after August 1, students should create user accounts for the Common Application at www.commonapp.org.

Campus visits may be made during the summer or planned for the fall. Start thinking about the personal essay.
