Early Childhood Center Home Lower School Home Middle School Home Upper School Home

The Ramaz Schools are located on the Upper East Side of Manhattan in a community that captures the best qualities of New York. New York possesses various landmarks and other major attractions. Our neighborhood combines the welcoming qualities of a closely knit family with the cultural attractions of an exciting urban center surrounded by many residential buildings, kosher restaurants, Judaica shops and synagogues, including Kehilath Jeshurun, the synagogue of the Ramaz family.

The Ramaz Schools are within walking distance of museums, theatres, bookstores, art galleries, parks, playgrounds, libraries and the zoo. A few minutes away are the courts, tennis and judicial, as well as the Wall Street and other districts. This unique blend affords our students exciting opportunities for enriching and diverse experiences. Our students visit the Planetarium, take trips to the zoos and visit the Jewish Museum, often integrating their studies with visits to the Shirt Waist Factory and Fire Memorial; carefully examine lulavim and etrogim on the Lower East Side, take walking tours of the financial district and stock exchange, enjoy sukkah hopping trips and learn about early New York Jewish history at the Spanish and Portuguese Synagogue and at Ellis Island. Where appropriate, the Middle and Upper Schools take part in rallies that are often held at the UN or foreign government consulates.

There are cocurricular clubs that take advantage of New York City such as the theater, photography or concert halls. The theater club enjoys Broadway and off-Broadway performances; the music club goes to Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center and hears world-renowned symphonies. Ballet companies and operas are enjoyed by many Ramaz students. Games at Madison Square Garden are a big attraction. Students experience life by getting involved.

The Early Childhood Center and Lower School are located at 125 East 85th Street, which also houses Kehilath Jeshurun and the Rabbi Haskel Lookstein Middle School at 114 East 85th Street, between Park and Lexington Avenues. The schools can be reached by the #4, #5 or #6 subways to 86th Street. The Eastside and Westside crosstown buses stop at the SE and NW corners of 86th Street and Lexington Avenue.

The Rabbi Joseph H. Lookstein Upper School is located at 60 East 78th Street, between Park and Madison Avenues. The high school can be reached by the #6 subway to the 77th Street stop. The 79th Street crosstown buses stop at the SE and NW corners of 79th Street and Madison Avenue.
