Fifth grade visited the fascinating world of Ancient Egypt at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. During a guided tour, students learned about the importance of the gods in Egyptian society. While touring the Temple of Dendur, they also viewed the magnificent artwork depicting the pharaoh offering gifts to the gods.
The students enjoyed learning about mummies: how they were made, why they were made, and what was buried with them. As they continued through the Egyptian wing, the guide brought the group to a room dedicated to Hatshepsut, one of the first female pharaohs.
This was a spectacular way to start off the fifth grade study of Ancient Egypt and great timing as we approach Pesach and the retelling of Yetziat Metzrayim.
