The Middle School computer club learned how to code by programming the SPK+ Sphero Balls to roll through mazes that they designed. The programs also included many other commands, such as changing colors, spinning and adding sounds as the ball reached specific locations within the maze. Sphero balls are designed to teach basic robotics and coding concepts and have a number of STEM challenges and engineering projects designed for collaborative work with students. The balls can be controlled through an app on Chromebooks or iPads and can be used to teach a wide range of curricular topics, ranging from Mathematics to Language Arts.
